CYC Website
[Software Development]

Full-Stack Website
I worked as a member of the CYC tech team beginning in 2023 to work on creating a website for our annual Small Business Fair (see below for more information).
Following a successful 2024 Bubble.io implementation, we decided to make a website from scratch using React.js, AWS, and an agile methodology. Together with a group of 4 of my peers, we designed and developed a mobile-optimized full-stack web application following the software development life-cycle. In addition to creating the foundation of the website, I created two local vendor trivia games in React.js that encouraged attendee engagement with the event and vendors. The first was a scavenger hunt guessing game where attendees were given clues and multiple choices, encouraging them to ask vendors about their business. The second was a crossword puzzle that contained trivia on the vendors. Winners would receive a certificate that they could exchange for event rewards, such as food from our rented food truck.
On the day of the Small Business Fair, we hosted over 70+ local businesses and tracked 500+ attendees who engaged with the website and completed the games.

What is CYC?
Consult Your Community (CYC) is a national nonprofit that brings together college students to provide pro bono consulting to minority-owned small business owners in their local communities. Founded at UC Berkeley in 2013, CYC has since expanded to 30+ top universities nationwide.
Through semester-long, skills-based projects, students apply their education and mentorship networks to deliver real-world solutions while gaining hands-on experience. Each year, CYC students contribute over 20,000 hours of consulting to 90+ small businesses, supported by mentors from leading firms and faculty advisors.

What is the Small Business Fair?
The Small Business Fair (SBF) is an event hosted on the NC State University campus, open to both students and the public. Designed to support and celebrate local entrepreneurs, the fair offers small business owners the opportunity to market their products, expand their networks, and grow their ventures in a vibrant community setting.
CYC raises funds throughout the year to make this even completely free for vendors and attendees. Guests can enjoy live music, yard games, free food, and more, making it both a valuable professional opportunity and a fun, engaging community event for all.
