TRANSFUSION

[Game Development]

Game Description

Transfusion is a body-horror puzzle game created using Unity. You play as a virus that is attempting to spread an infection throughout a human body, while your progress is thwarted by white blood cells.

There are 3 levels for distinct areas of the body: limbs, heart, and brain. The 1st level gets the player familiar with the game, providing them a narrow area to operate in and minimal enemy involvement. The 2nd level increases the difficulty, providing more area to move but also more enemies to counter. The 3rd and final level flips game play on its head, testing the player's ability to maneuver in an open space rather than avoiding enemies.

The goal is to cover as much surface area as possible before time runs out.

My Contributions

Working in a team of four, I contributed across several disciplines to help bring our concept to life. I originated the core idea and served as the project’s creative director, guiding both the narrative tone and aesthetic direction. I implemented the scene flow and camera movement, ensuring that transitions felt smooth, purposeful, and aligned with the player’s learning experience. I also created the game’s artwork, defining the visual identity and atmosphere as unnerving but engaging.

Event Description

The NC State Collegiate Game Jam 2025 marked the first event of its kind at the university, bringing together student developers, artists, and designers for an intense 48-hour creative sprint. The theme for this inaugural year—“Tunnel”—challenged participants to interpret a single word in imaginative and unexpected ways.

While other teams focused on more conventional tunnel interpretations (mine shafts, moles, etc.), we decided to find a more creative and less explored kind of tunnel: veins, capillaries, and arteries.

Our project was recognized for its impact and execution, earning two awards:

  • Outstanding Use of Games for Teaching & Learning, presented by MTR Magic Key

  • Runner-up award for “Best in Show”

These awards reflect our team’s dedication to designing a game that was not only engaging but also meaningful in how it communicated ideas through interactive play.
